So my dear friends, how do we attain that rank where our hearts can be brimming with intense love for so that we may become totally obedient to Him?

Remember that we can never be totally obedient to Him until we develop intense love for Him. Why? Because if we love our hearts more than we love Him, then we will not hesitate in the least to break His commands should we experience any difficulty to our hearts.Consider the following example: A beautiful woman passes by. Our is inclined to look at her. If we love intensely (more than our ) then we will displease our and please by not looking at her. If, on the other hand, we love our more, then we will go ahead and sin by casting a lustful at her,thereby pleasing the and at the same time displeasing . Thus in order to stay away from sins, it is necessary that the be more than anything else.

1. It is Sunnat to take medication and undergo treatment during an illness. However, one should depend only on Ta’ala for the cure.

2. It is Sunnat to treat an illness with kalunji (black seed ) and honey. (Bukhari-  chapter on medicine) Rasulullah () said that has placed cure in these two things. There are many Ahadith narrated in praise of kalunji and honey.

3. During treatment one should avoid those things which aggravate the illness.

4. It is Sunnat to visit one’s brother. Nabi () said:
(Bukhari) “Visit the ”.
Hazrat Jaabir () narrates:

“I became . Nabi () came to visit me”. (Bukhari)

5. After visiting the it is Sunnat to leave quickly (Mishkaat). It should not happen that the patient or his family is inconvenienced in any way by your remaining there for a long time.

6. To console the patient in any way possible is Sunnat. For example one should say to him that Insha- you will recover very quickly, Ta’ala is the Most Powerful. One should not say such things which will instil fear in the person.  (Mishkaat, pg. 137)

7. When visiting the one  should say  the  following:

Trans: Do not become worried as this sickness will be a means of cleaning you from your sins, if Ta’ala wishes.
Thereafter recite this seven times for his recovery:

Trans: I ask Ta’ala who is All Powerful and the Lord of the Great Throne that He grants you recovery. Rasulullah () has stated that by reading this dua seven times the person will be cured. However, if the time of his death has approached than nothing can delay that. (Mishkaat- pg. 135, Abu Dawood- Vol.2, pg. 86)

The Journey Of / (An Act Of Intense Love And Devotion)

The entire act of / is a depiction of the epitome of love, in which even the dress of the / has been kept similar to that of a person who is experiencing intense love. He is not permitted to wear clothing that has been sewn, just one sheet for the upper-body and one for the lower-body. Where does one who is intoxicated with love have the time and energy to worry about his clothing? Whilst in the state of Ihraam, you are not allowed to kill a lice. One is not permitted to use any fragrance or perfume, or any thing which is used to acquire cleanliness. One has to remain bareheaded and barefooted, similar to the condition of a person who is totally out of his senses. He has to wear such shoes which leaves the upper-bone of the foot exposed, just as a lover remembers nothing else besides his beloved. Ta’ala has made every ritual of the / ceremony a depiction of extreme love. Some people are fond of showing off their status, but on the occasion of / , Ta’ala has flattened the status of one and all. A person is far away from his home, he is deprived of the food, drink and comfort that he is accustomed to, he has to walk bare-footed, has to leave his head exposed, and after / he has to shave his head bald. The command of Ta’ala to shave the head is symbolic of the removal of all rebellious thoughts and emotions against the commands of Ta’ala.

Shaytan misleads many people into indulgence in sins by making them think, “Enjoy yourself while you’re still young! Then make taubah later….You’ve got plenty of time!” Those who have this dreadful misconception should read the following story and take heed.

Hazratwala (daamat barakaatuhum) says: “One horrible consequence of persisting in sins which has been witnessed, may Ta`ala protect us all, is that Ta`ala takes away the tawfeeq to repent.

In Nazimabad, a section of Karachi Pakistan, there used to be a man who would commit evil deeds day and night. When he was on his deathbed a friend advised him, “Brother, you are on the brink of death now, at least make tawbah for the sins you’ve committed.”

So that man uttered a terribly frightening statement which is a lesson for all of us. He said, “I can utter any word you want right now. Tell me to say, doctor… or medicine… or tea…or biscuits…any of these words you ask me, I can say it. But that specific word that you are asking me to say, is just not coming out of my mouth.”

Tell me, how much admonition is in this story?! Why is it that a person can utter any word except for tawbah? What is so difficult about uttering these four letters, (ت، و، ب ، ه ( ?

Also, this is not a story from a long time ago. This is an incident that I have witnessed with my own eyes. So repent before that day comes wherein the to repent gets snatched away from you. Audacity in committing sins, shamelessness, and immodesty must have some limit! Have you completely lost all sense of shame and modesty?

It is for this reason that after the command اتقوا الله (Fear …) Ta`ala has commanded us to :

كونوا مع الصادقين (Be with the truthful ones…) In other words, those who are true and sincere in their piety and fear of . Because it is through the company of these sincere people who are always fearful of Ta`ala, that Ta`ala will grant us the tawfeeq to make sincere repentance.
