The Curse of Casting Evil Glances
Spiritual Diseases, Tasawwuf March 13th, 2009
By casting evil glances the thought of that beauty continuously comes into the heart and mind. Through this, the heart is in a continuous struggle and conflict which causes the heart to become weak and sickly. The curse of casting evil glances is that along with the eyes, the five senses and the entire body becomes agitated.
In the commentary of the verse:
ان اللہ خبیر بما یصنعون
“Indeed Allah is fully aware of what they do.”
Allama Alousi (رحمۃ اللہ علیہ) explains this verse in his Tafseer Ruhul Ma’ani under four headings:
- باجالة النظر Allah is aware of how you turn your eyes around to cast evil glances.
- باستعمال سائر الحواس The one who casts evil glances uses all five senses. By using the sight, he tries to look at the unlawful beauty, he uses his hearing to listen to her an unlawful voice, he uses his lips to try to get an unlawful kiss, through his touch he desires to caress the beloved, through his sense of smell he wishes to smell the beloved’s fragrance.
- بتحریک الجوارح Allah is fully aware of the movements of all the limbs. Allah is watching how he uses his hands, legs and other limbs in order to obtain his beloved. Whereas the perpetrator is totally unaware that Allah Ta’ala is watching his every move.
- بما یقصدون بذالک Allah Ta’ala is fully aware of his final aim and that is fornication. This is actually an informative sentence that has a warning concealed in it, that is:
“I AM FULLY AWARE OF YOUR EVERY MOVE. IF YOU DO NOT ABSTAIN, THEN THERE WILL BE SEVERE PUNISHMENT!“
Thus, in this verse there is an indication that he will be punished if he does not repent. Casting evil glances is the first stage towards fornication and illicit sexual intercourse, in which a person becomes shameless, makes himself naked and then humiliates and degrades himself in both worlds. This is why Allah Ta’ala forbade the very beginning stage of casting evil glances. The example of this sin is like an escalator which automatically takes a person to the final stage, as soon as he puts his foot on the first step. That action whose beginning is evil, what can be expected of the end result? I have a couplet concerning this:
عشق بتاں کی منزلیں ختم ہیں سب گناہ پر
All the stages of the love of idols, end in sin,
جس کی ہو ابتداء غلط کیسے صحیح ہو انتہا
How can that thing which begins with evil, ever end in goodness?
Due to the fact that all the limbs and five senses of the one committing evil glances becomes agitated, and the heart becomes involved in a continuous struggle for filthy and evil motives, the body and heart of such a person becomes weak and sickly.

NOTE: This disease is very common these days, It’s a major SIN and people don’t even consider it as SIN. Spread this as much as you can among your friends and social community.

The Sun of Mercy
Love of Allah, Short Articles, Tasawwuf August 5th, 2008
When the sun (which is only a creation) in the sky can convert impurities to fragrant flowers and is creating bread in the oven, then what will be the condition of Allah’s sun of grace? When the rays of Allah’s mercy shine on the evil thoughts in the heart, those thoughts are changed to the light of piety. Allah does not require capability or a certificate for giving. Maulana Rumi (
) have said;
When Allah can grant filthy impurities such garments and Noor, then what will He be able to give his pure servants. Jalalud-din Rumi (
) is at a loss of vocabulary to express what bounties Allah grants those salikeen and murideen and those who tread His path.
When the sun of Allah’s grace rises on people’s hearts, their evil character changes to virtuous character. The love which was being sacrificed for decaying corpses is now being sacrificed for Allah in prostration. That love is expressed now by placing the head on the ground in prostration by saying, “Subhana Rabbiyal A’la”. Honor belongs to the one who places his head at the feet of the Creator of the head. He will have no difficulties.

Who Is The True Mureed And Who Is The True Shaikh?
Friends of Allah, Tasawwuf July 27th, 2008
Just this morning, Allah Ta’ala inspired my heart with an incredible topic that, ‘who is the true mureed?’ The true mureed is the one whose muraad (aim and objective) is Allah Ta’ala.
Now, who is the true Shaikh? The true Shaikh is the one who guides his mureed to his desired objective. He supplicates to Allah Ta’ala and cries from the depths of his heart on his behalf. This is true TASAWWUF. Therefore, the true mureed is the one whose muraad (objective) is the Being of Allah Ta’ala.
This verse of the Qur’aan Shareef:
(They desire Him) declares that the real objective of the true lovers of Allah Ta’ala is the Being of Allah Ta’ala. Thus, every mureed should take stock of himself in the light of this verse whether he is a true mureed or not? If our muraad is truly the Being of Allah Ta’ala then we will never look at ghairullah. As for that mureed who casts evil glances, and looks at ghairullah, then know that his intention is still deficient and he is still not fully matured. The ‘kabab‘ of his Nisbah is still raw. Whomsoever eats raw kabab will be tasteless and others who associate with him will also remain without taste.
It is not possible that a true Allah-Wala has the love of the world and ghairullah in his heart.

Kashf (Divine Inspiration) is Not Within the Control of Man
Beliefs, Tasawwuf April 22nd, 2008
Kashf is not within the control of man, it is not a voluntary action, rather it is completely under the control and order of Allah Ta’ala. The example of it is similar to when Allah Ta’ala sent the fragrance of Hazrat Yusuf’s (
) qamees (shirt) from Egypt to his father Hazrat Ya’qub (
) in Canaan. However, when it was not the will of Allah Ta’ala, then even when Hazrat Yusuf (
) was cast into the well of Canaan by his brothers, Hazrat Ya’qub (
) was unaware of it. If kashf was within the control of Hazrat Ya’qub (
) then why did he not know that his son was cast into the well, whereas he was able to smell the fragrance of Hazrat Yusuf (
) all the way from Egypt? Thus, we come to know that kashf is only within the control of Allah Ta’ala. We should correct our belief regarding this matter.

Book: What is the Reality of Tasawwuf
Book Reviews, Site Updates, Tasawwuf March 30th, 2008
A book titled ‘What is the Reality of Tasawwuf’ has recently been added in book section of khanqah website.
In this book, Hazratwala clarifies the misunderstandings and misconceptions surrounding TASAWWUF, commonly known in the Indo/Pak subcontinent as Peeri-Mureedi. He vividly exposes the innovations of fake “Peers” or Shaikhs and guides his readers to follow the pure and prestine path of Shariah and Sunnah. Many people due to incorrect motives and ignorance have taken TASAWWUF/PEERI-MUREEDI to be a combination of weird rituals and made-up innovations. Whereas the whole purpose of TASAWWUF is to gain the love of Allah Ta’ala through complete adherence to the teachings of Shariah and Sunnah. This love, however, must be attained from one who has tread this path and learned it from someone before him. Similarly that person must have attain knowledge from one who has qualified in that particular field under the supervision of qualified teachers. Take the example of medicine. Just as a self-taught doctor is not reliable in the medical field, similarly, the one who has not attained spirituality from a qualified and reliable Shaikh or Peer is not a genuine Peer, rather he is a fake Peer. The sign and distinguishing quality of a TRUE Shaikh or Peer is his complete adherence to the Shariah and Sunnah.
May Allah Ta’ala make this booklet a means of guidance for the entire Ummah and may He make it a means of eternal reward for our Shaikh, Hazratwala (db) and all those who made an effort in its publication. May He accept it out of His sheer mercy. Aameen

Recognizing the Friends of Allah Tala
Friends of Allah, Tasawwuf March 28th, 2008
Allah Ta`ala grants His chosen servants such honor and dignity that even the hearts of the kings and emperors tremble in awe of them. But this greatness is only attained when Allah Ta’ala has entered the heart. It should not be like the example of a sign on the outside of a tent, upon which is written, “This is Laila’s tent.” However, when one peaks inside, one realizes that instead of Laila, there is a dog tied up in that tent. This is exactly the example of a person who adopts the garb of the pious and in spite of this, he does not abstain from sins and evil deeds. He is wearing the title of a “Maula-Wala1” with a full shar’i beard and a round cap, but if one happens to peak into his heart then he will find it filled with the filth and defilement of ghairullah2.
If he has Maula in his heart then his face will interpret that which is within it. This is because the face is a reflection and an interpreter of what is in the heart. If there is the love of Allah Ta`ala in the heart then this love will become manifest on the face.
This is in fact, the explanation of a Hadith Shareef in which Rasulullah (
) has said:
“The friends of Allah are those who when they are seen, Allah is remembered.”
(Majma’uz Zawaid; Vol. 10, Pg. 78, Bazzaar)
Thus, he who has attained Allah Ta’ala in his heart has in fact purified his heart from ghairullah. On one occasion someone had come to Hazrat Uthman (
) after casting evil glances. Hazrat Uthman (
) said to him:
“What is the condition of such a people from whose eyes zina (fornication) is dripping!?”
(Tafseer Qurtubi; Vol. 10, Pg. 44)
The brilliant rays of Allah’s love shine from the eyes of the friends of Allah, and the stench of dead corpses come from the lovers of ghairullah.
